Happy 2009.... so what is in a Number?

Happy New Year! 2009!

What might seemingly be just another new year to some, it's not just another new year for me. There are 2 "numbers" that make the number "2009" significant to me.

First, and of lesser interest, is the number "40". No, not "40" as in U2's song titled after the verse in Psalms. Rather "40" as in how old I will be at the end of this month. And I am constantly getting asked, "So, how does it feel to be turning 40?" "Are you feeling any different?" Ugh...

The second number, and of greater interest, is "1,000,000"...as in $1,000,000. No, not $1,000,000 as in Dr. Evil's ransom money for the free world (Yes, I'm holding my pinky finger to the corner of my mouth). Rather, $1,000,000 as in our target for funds raised for Cystic Fibrosis research through our MakeCFHistory.com campaign.

So - to bring it altogether, my goal now is to raise the $1,000,000 in 2009 while (or before) I am 40. That gives me 12 months (oh boy, another number).
