Each year, the organizing committee of the Make CF History Charity Classic looks for ways to further our purpose in raising awareness (and funds) for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Last year we were inspired by Team Colin, whose Team Captain Steve Lopez entered his team in honor of Colin Mong. Colin is a CF patient and is the son of a colleague of Steve's. Four years ago, when I sat down at a Tim Hortons with my good friend Chuck Scott to discuss what it would take to create a hockey tournament to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, I envisioned 16 teams coming together for a weekend of fun and hockey to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. One great benefit that comes with organizing the Make CF History Charity Classic is all of the people I get to meet who I might not otherwise have had a chance to.
Last year we welcomed Trevor Umlah, the goalie who joined us all the way from Halifax, Novia Scotia. And we now know that he is not just any ordinary goalie, nor any ordinary person for that matter. I often struggle (seriously struggle) with how to best present this thing we call "The Make CF History Charity Classic". And with that, I often question/challenge myself as to how I can be more effective at making sure that the Make CF History Charity Classic is an event that everyone - from the players to the volunteers - feels proud and energized to be a part of. And in doing so, I Chadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01252740134938399852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4416441639937525316.post-28602195138182728132013-01-27T12:26:00.000-05:002013-01-27T12:26:24.323-05:002013 Charity Classic putting the 'fun' in fund raising
The 2013 Make CF History Charity Classic is off to a great start, with 12 teams already registered for this year's event. Our goal is to host a total of 16 teams, and we are prepared to expand the divisions if needed.
A new twist to this year's event requires our players to raise a minimum of $125.00 in order to participate. In prior years, we simply required a flat team entry fee.Chadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01252740134938399852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4416441639937525316.post-88379751254146053222012-10-13T10:15:00.001-04:002012-10-13T10:17:57.516-04:002013 'Charity Classic' set for June 7-9th
The organizers of the Make CF History Charity Classic are hard at work already, and the first piece of the planning process is in place: the date of next years event!
Save the Date: June 7th - 9th, 2013.
Once again, the Make CF History Charity Classic will be hosted at the Chiller Ice Rink at Easton. The Chillers have been great partners for us, and we are proud and excited to Chadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01252740134938399852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4416441639937525316.post-91897615037723554472012-09-26T06:34:00.002-04:002012-09-26T06:34:28.980-04:002012 'classic' crossed borders, reached new heights

The second annual Make CF History Charity Classic Hockey Tournament (and more!) is set for June 8th - 10th, 2012. And while that may seem like a ways off, it will be here before we know it. And with that in mind, planning for the 2012 Make CF History Charity Classic Hockey Tournament has begun.
